Former Addict Connects With Arresting Officer

Paige Kote and Heather Wilson did not meet under good circumstances. Heather, an officer with the Huntsville Police Department, arrested Paige on July 25, 2016, for possession of meth and heroin. It wasn’t Paige’s first arrest, so the judge could have sent her to prison for three years.

Instead, he sent her to the Lovelady Center in Birmingham with a strong warning that if she failed to comply, he would double the original sentence. Paige turned her life around at the Lovelady Center, and now her story has come full circle.

“The center taught me who God is and how to be a productive, well-equipped woman of God that can function flawlessly in society,” Paige said. “I owe my life to God and thank Him daily for how He utilized Officer Wilson and The Lovelady Center.”

On Saturday, Paige caught up with Heather while she was on patrol to give her a shirt for the upcoming End Heroin Huntsville walk. Paige will be at the event working a table for the Lovelady Center.  She posted a photo to Facebook that quickly went viral with 63 shares and almost 700 likes in just 15 hours.

These days Paige uses her story, along with a dramatic before-and-after photo, to show how an addict can turn his or her life around.
