HEMSI CEO Gets Top Honor

For the past 30 years, Huntsville Emergency Medical Services, Inc. (HEMSI) has been the name associated with help and rescue in the area. You don’t call an ambulance in Huntsville, you call HEMSI. Led by CEO Jon Howell, the ambulance service answers more than 50,000 calls each year.

Now, Howell is gaining national attention as the recipient of the 2016 President’s Award from the American Ambulance Association. The President’s award goes to members who go above and beyond what is needed to grow the association.

Howell was one of three volunteers who received the President’s Award this year.

American Ambulance Association President Mike Hall spoke out about Howell’s dedication to the ambulance industry.

“This award is given by the sole discretion of the President of the AAA, and I can’t think of a more deserving individual,” Hall said. “No matter what I’ve asked him to do for the AAA, he has taken on the task with determination, commitment and a level of servant leadership rarely seen anymore.”

The Community Journal thanks Jon Howell and HEMSI for their dedication to saving people in Madison County.
