Earlier this summer, we highlighted The Wings of Faith Foundation, whose sole purpose is to enrich the lives of teenage girls in under resourced areas like New Hope, Alabama. This is primarily done by giving them real life work experience, teaching them basic life skills, and supporting them both emotionally and financially to get them to where they want to see themselves in the future. The real life job experiences come from working in a boutique that the founder of Wings of Faith, Tara Furlough, established to support the foundation. She’s All That Boutique in Owens Crossroads is not only a ridiculously cute place to shop, but it is also the place where these girls work part-time and learn about work ethic.

Shopping with a Purpose

Through fundraisers such as fashion shows and silent auctions and through private donations, Wings of Faith even provides scholarships for each girl to attend the college or trade school of her choice. Right now, purchases made at She’s All That are being used to help stock inventory, but at just over a year old, the boutique is striving toward their goal of having all profits go directly to Wings of Faith. The foundation has also just recently opened a new building where the girls will be learning how to make gifts and greeting cards they will sell themselves or through the store. Eventually, Tara would like the girls to also be able keep the profit from items they make and sell. Until that happens, The Wings of Faith Foundation depends solely on private donations and public fundraisers.

Their next big fundraiser is actually fast approaching!

On Saturday, July 11th, The Wings of Faith Foundation and She’s All That Boutique are asking the community to shop with a purpose at The Parking Lot Sale at PAMA. From 10 AM – 2 PM, in the parking lot at PAMA Talent Agency, shoppers can peruse clothing, furniture, jewelry, pallet art, hand-painted pots and other unique gifts. Woody Anderson Ford is helping sponsor the event by lending a barbecue chef, providing plenty of food for shoppers. There will even be some kids’ activities such as painting flower pots and taking picture in a photo booth! All proceeds will go straight to The Wings of Faith Foundation, and your purchases will be helping girls like 17-year-old Casey: “We appreciate our customers so much, that they don’t realize how a simple purchase is helping us with our future. They are such a large impact to our future by helping the Wings of Faith Foundation, Inc. “

If you have been looking for a way to get involved with this incredible foundation, Saturday is the perfect opportunity to do so. Check out The Wings of Faith Foundation’s Facebook page for more details about the event and for updates on how to get involved.
