Bear Hunts Keep Kids Engaged

We get it; you’re tired of being inside. Parents are struggling after almost two weeks of social distancing, and there are only so many times you can watch “Frozen” before you go insane. Here’s an idea that will get you out of the house but keep you at a safe distance from others.

Neighborhoods in the Huntsville area are holding teddy bear hunts for kids. The premise is simple, you put a bear in your window, then take your kids driving or walking around to find them. The goal is to see who can spot the most bears on your journey.

Communities in Meridianville and Muscle Shoals are all hosting bear hunts this week. The Fox Run Golf Course community and Buckeye Bend in Meridianville are hosting teddy bear hunts, and most of Muscle Shoals is participating.

You can find a list of streets with potential bear sightings in that area here.

Meanwhile, other neighborhoods have started doing scavenger hunts and sidewalk chalk to keep little ones entertained and communities engaged.

If you don’t have an activity going on in your neighborhood, set one up! People are using the Nextdoor app and website to keep others informed.
