Bringing Back the Drive-In Movie

With the COVID-19 pandemic droning on and on (and on), many are looking for new, creative ways to celebrate the upcoming holidays. One fun way community organizers are getting everyone out safely is through the resurgence of drive-in movie theaters.

Here’s when you can catch a drive-in movie in our area:

Oct. 10: Halloween-themed movie night at Sharon Johnston Park.

Events will include a food truck, playground, barrel train and hay ride.

Gate opens at 4:30 p.m., and the movie “Aladdin” begins at 6:30. Parking is $10.

Touchstar Madison Cinema shows movies on their 40-foot parking lot screen in MidCity. Check here for listings

If you’re willing to drive a little farther, there are additional options in Boaz and Athens.

Cinemagic in Athens shows new releases all day. Check here for listings

Sand Mountain Twin Drive-In located in Boaz shows movies on the weekends for $15 per carload. Check here for listings.

If you know of a drive-in or outdoor movie coming to the Huntsville area, email us at [email protected] or tell us in the comments.
