Huntsville will wreak havoc once again. Huntsville Havoc is one of only five teams chosen to play in an abbreviated 2020–2021 hockey season.
The 42-game season will kick off on December 6, and the full schedule will be announced soon. The other teams playing are the Birmingham Bulls, Knoxville Ice Bears, Macon Mayhem and the Pensacola Ice Flyers.
According to an announcement from the Southern Professional Hockey League, “Due to state and local restrictions related to the continuing COVID-19 pandemic that limit their ability to host spectators and the projected economic impacts to those teams, the Evansville Thunderbolts, Fayetteville Marksmen, Peoria Rivermen, Quad City Storm, and Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs will sit out the upcoming season and prepare to return for the 2021-2022 campaign.”
The league suspended all games back in March due to the COVID-19 outbreak, but decided to start back with proper social distancing measures.
