HEMSI Helps Hospice Patient

When Jennifer Daugherty’s sister needed to change apartments, it was Huntsville’s first responders who stepped in to help.

“So grateful for Huntsville Emergency Medical Services Inc. (HEMSI), who early this morning scheduled the safe transport of my sister, who is on hospice care with Huntington’s disease, to my mother’s new apartment,” Jennifer wrote in a post on Facebook. “We could NOT have managed without them. My mother was moving to a one story apt in order to better manage care for my sister. Though this move was only across the parking lot is it incomprehensible that (the hospital) refused to provide this service to my sister, my mother or any patient in Limestone County. There was no other option in how my sister could be safely moved. Thank you again to HEMSI. My sister and my mother are safe and comfortable. Great day.”

Others chimed in messages of support.

“Standing ovation to HEMSI!” one friend wrote.

We couldn’t agree more.
