HPD Helps Cancer Patient

When a woman traveled to Huntsville for cancer treatments, she didn’t realize she would need a police escort from the hotel to the treatment center after her planned transportation fell through. Teresa Lanford, an employee at Microtel Inn and Suites, helped the elderly woman find a cab, but she couldn’t afford the fare.

The woman called Teresa crying, and the two women called the Huntsville Police Department for help. An officer, identified in the comments of the Facebook post as Officer Savage, came to the woman’s rescue and escorted her to her treatment.

“I wanted to help sooooo bad but I was unable to leave the property at the moment,” Teresa wrote on Facebook. “So after every option I tried didn’t work I called these guys to help … and they did!!!”

Way to go, Officer Savage!
