The intersection of University Drive and Memorial Parkway is always busy, but it’s even worse on Fridays around lunch time when there’s a car stalled on the southbound lane. That’s what happened to a black SUV that stopped working on Friday afternoon. It wasn’t stuck for long, though. Within a few minutes, a group of inmates from the Madison County Detention Center were out there, pushing the SUV toward a concrete median.
It only took a few minutes and they were gone, leaving the owner of the SUV to call a tow truck or super helpful friend to come get them. A spokesperson at the Madison County Detention Center said the inmates working on work leave often wear yellow jump suits but hadn’t heard of the group of helpful men.
