Musicians Needed for Quarantined Seniors

If you drive through Hazel Green on any summer weekend night, it’s not unusual to hear some form of live music. So, it came as no surprise that the towns north of Huntsville were quick to jump in when someone asked for a musical favor.

“I work at two senior nonprofit apartment complexes,” one woman posted on the What’s Happening Meridianville/Hazel Green Facebook page. “It is independent living. With all this Covid, these seniors feel depressed, trapped, lonely. I was trying to see if band, group or local church volunteers would be willing to come out to both properties in Huntsville and do a small little outdoor concert. Nothing fancy, just something to lift their spirits. We can do outside with social distancing and mask. Anyone know anyone that might be willing to do that? Or someone that has a band/church choir/small singing group that might do it for a small fee that the complex could cover? I just want to help our seniors and show them people care about them. Any information/help is greatly appreciated.”

Dozens chimed in with band suggestions, so hopefully the seniors can get more than one night of music.

If you can help arrange an outdoor concert, head over to the neighborhood Facebook page and leave a comment
