If you’re anything like us — completely, 100 percent over the coronavirus, but still being responsible and wearing masks and social distancing — you definitely, definitely need more cute animal photos in your life.
Luckily, the Greater Huntsville Humane Society has you covered. Their Picture Purrfect Pets Photo Contest runs through mid-August and gives you the chance to see cute pictures, donate money to a worthy cause, and also upload your own photo — you know, the ones you’ve been taking while your Yorkie watches Netflix with you during quarantine.
“It is one of our favorite fundraisers,” said Anne Caldwell, CEO of the Humane Society. “We’ve been doing it for years and years, and luckily for us, it is completely virtual. It is just about the one fundraising initiative that has not been derailed or postponed due to COVID-19.”
At the time of publication, there were 49 entries, skewed pretty heavily toward dog entries, but including one hamster.
It’s free to enter and each vote is $1. The winners will be featured on the GHHS 2021 calendar. You can also purchase a single day to showcase your pet.
“Even if your pet isn’t one of the top 12, they will still be featured in some way,” Anne said.
The entry cutoff is July 25, and organizers are hoping to have a wrap-up celebration at the new thrift store.
