Police Deliver Diapers, Food to Family in Need

One of the worst feelings as a parent is reaching into the pack of diapers mid-change and feeling nothing — no more diapers, not even a too-small one you could make do with. That’s the situation one Florida family found themselves in, but a police officer stepped in to help.

Officers responded to a call at an Ocala, Florida, motel where they found a family in need of diapers, clothing and food.

“We did not hesitate!” the Ocala Police Department posted on Facebook. “Sergeant Fried went to Aldi to purchase groceries for the family and Burger King to get hot food for when he arrived back at the motel. Diapers, toiletries, and gift cards were also purchased for the family. Most of these items were purchased either by the officers themselves or through a community donation. THIS is what community service and the love OPD has for its community looks like.”

Residents were quick to chime in with support for the OPD.

“Makes my heart so happy… Thank you for taking care of that family and making sure those babies had food in their bellies,” one person wrote.

Others said they appreciated the extra work from the officers.

“I wish you could hit the love button 10x,” another person commented. “You guys are phenomenal.”

Way to go, Ocala police officers!
