It’s one of those stories that makes you say, “Who does that? Who steals a trailer from a high school marching band?”
But someone stole the Madison County High School’s band trailer back in March, right before the band headed into competition season.
For the students who had been practicing all year, the theft was heartbreaking.
Zachary Tyree, the high school band director, told WHNT they had just bought the white trailer in the fall and planned to decorate it in the coming months.
For a band that has to travel with xylophones, chimes, bass drums and other instruments, the theft spelled disaster.
Enter Torch Technologies.
The defense contractor offered to replace the stolen trailer with a newer, fancier one. The new trailer has the school’s logo painted on the side.
Bill Roark, CEO of Torch Technologies, hopes this sparks a chain reaction of kindness. He wants the students to go out and do random acts for other people, he told AL.com.
