Avery Grace is a fighter. The infant was born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome, where half of her heart is underdeveloped and must be reconstructed. In her first month of life, she has already been through one major heart surgery.
She still has three more to go.
For Michael and Lindsey Beth Tincher, this is a first-time parents’ worst nightmare.
The Huntsville natives are looking at mounting medical bills the longer Avery stays in Children’s Hospital in Birmingham. A Gofundme page has raised $10,000 towards Avery’s bills, but they’re still $40,000 shy of the goal. This still might not cover the bills.
In a blog Michael keeps to post updates on her condition, he writes about the daily ups and downs in her recovery. The posts are full of medical jargon, something that Michael, a realtor, and Lindsey Beth, a travel agent, have been thrown into.
Throughout it all, the family is keeping their faith alive.
“There is still the possibility that Avery could go in cardiac arrest and not come back,” Michael writes. “Because we chose not to believe in percentages of survival from day one, we held strong to our faith. We prayed for strength and comfort for Avery, and for us. No matter what the results were, we needed a peace and comfort. We are still praying for a miracle!”
Lindsey Beth works at Sterling Travel Agency. They are running a raffle for a free trip to anyone who donates $20. According to their Facebook page, the agency is giving away a three night stay at a resort in the Dominican Republic.
Each $20 donation to the Gofundme page will enter you once in the drawing. For example, a $40 donation is two entries into the drawing.
To enter, email a copy of your donation to [email protected] by May 31.
